ABOUT US

The mission of The Learning Paradigm is to implement programs and resources in under-served communities that nurture the skills and capacities of children with special needs.  We exist to create a community where ability precedes disability allowing every child to play, grow, and thrive. The Learning Paradigm was founded on the principles of ensuring appropriate and accurate child development programs in our community. As advocates for those with special needs, we greatly understand the impact that disabilities can have on the lives of an individual and their family. With our adapted sports program, we hope to redefine society's perspective so that there is an understanding that children with disabilities are not different, but may have a different way of learning. They need the support of empathetic individuals who want them to be successful and gain functional living skills just as their peers.

OUR PURPOSE

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Our founder, Tiffany Daniels Spivey's goal was to provide opportunities in communities that lack sports programs for children with disabilities. Implementing these modified sports provide a caring and safe place that feels like “home” where children with disabilities can be themselves, learn a sport at their own pace, determine their interests and likes, as well as gain friendships with their peers. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, Tiffany understands that many children with disabilities have several therapies through speech, occupational, physical, and behavior therapy that allows them to learn new skills. Therefore, our sports program provides an atmosphere that helps them to generalize those skills in a real-world activity, which is vital to their well-being of learning independence and being self-sufficient. The Learning Paradigm emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2016, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.

BEYOND DEVELOPMENT

Beyond Development is aimed at helping students ages 13-18 with developmental disabilities gain skills

needed to assist with functional living after high school. The program teaches these young students with social-
emotional, as well as interpersonal skills they might not otherwise get in a classroom. Our leadership program

will help them garner independence and gain skills to be self-sufficient individuals.

MAKE A TRUE CHANGE

Rapid Fire Speaker Series

As an organization that focuses on supporting children with special needs and making sure that we provide resources and programs in under served communities, it's important for us to keep individuals in these communities aware and informed with knowledge that can help us all grow.

Therefore, with the Rapid Fire Series (think TED Talk style format), speakers will have only 3 mins to share information on a topic as it relates to one of the following: Leadership, Healthcare, Education, Community. Our speakers are champions in their fields who have a lot of knowledge to share. You will hear about initiatives they have started, concerns they may have as it relates to community, leadership tips and suggestions, and innovative solutions that will trigger progressive mindsets and action driven thoughts to help you use what is shared to allow us to come together and bridge the gap of opportunities to make a difference in our communities. It all starts with being aware and moving forward.
